One of the most challenging tasks of a dressmaking is to attach sleeves to a bodice. Especially “Set-in” sleeves, where it involves easing the sleeve into the armhole. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could sew nice high-cap sleeves that fit easily and smoothly? Find out more.
My Sloper easily draws the no-ease sleeve cap for any size. It just needs a little bit of tweaking sometimes.
Sewing a no-ease sleeve cap is rather painless as well.
It involves two steps for the beginner.
- Baste the sleeve cap to the bodice, right sides facing, matching the sleeve notch to the bodice armhole notch.
- Sew with a sewing machine along the seam line.
- For the seasoned dressmaker, just skip the basting step and sew the sleeve cap directly onto the armhole, matching both notches.
